This is my first ever attempt at photographing the Milky Way, what do you think?
It was a pretty crazy night when I was invited (after months of me dropping not so subtle hints and probably getting a bit annoying) to go on a mission to photograph the stars. We left at 11pm, drove from Sydney to the central coast, scouted a few locations then settled on this spot at Forresters Beach. We photographed from about 1am to 3:30am then drove back to Sydney and I got to bed 20 minutes before I normally wake up!
I loved every minute of this creative adventure and am thankful for the invite and guiding hand, as this style of photography has a lot of quirks to learn. Those who know me also know I’m much more of a morning person than a night owl, but this just might have got me keen enough to start exploring the dark half of the day a little more!..
Enjoy your day,
Joel Coleman…

Posted at 00:03h, 16 MarchWell done Joel (although I am not surprised as your photos are alway amazing)!! I also appreciate how natural your photos are, you really capture the beauty of nature which most photographers miss and try to compensate by over “photoshopping” their image (I’m very guilty of that).
Enjoy your day!

Posted at 20:19h, 16 MarchUtterly superb photos! And what a privilege you have in the southern hemisphere due to the way the solar system’s (60 degrees) & earth’s (23.5 degrees) tilted orbits happen to combine to point toward the galactic centre, albeit hidden behind those dark clouds of interstellar dust.
They also make it clear that we are some distance from the centre, in fact about 2/3rds of the way out in the suburbs.
Makes you think more than any ocean wave can do, so more please!
