I had a trip planned to travel down the west coast of Tasmania, but I was little prepared and thoroughly under researched, partly because I didn’t have the time before I left and partly because that’s the way I like to travel sometimes. Just book a ticket, arrive and see what happens next. What happened next on this trip amazed me. Instead of following the coast, I tracked inland and ended up following a path of waterfalls and rivers. Just before my arrival the first serious rains of the winter had let loose across the island meaning the rivers and waterfalls were in full-flow and looking spectacular. So I ditched the coast (there was no surf for me anyway) and walked along rivers, up hills and through farmlands. It was epic. If you have a love of the outdoors, then Tasmania is a place you should visit. It was my second trip and I already have plans for a third and no doubt more after that.
So come with me on a visual adventure, through a place that is simply magical. A place of storybook mushrooms growing wild on paths to waterfalls that I guarantee will make you gasp. Through farmlands that meet the sea and glow crazy shades of yellow and gold in the afternoon light. A place where the cold and the rain create forests of your childhood dreams. Come with me on a creative adventure through Northern Tasmania.
Enjoy your day,
Joel Coleman…

Posted at 04:42h, 03 JuneThank you Joel. We moved from Manly 18 months ago to Tasmania, squeezed out by the high cost of living and insecure work. We were sad to leave such a beautiful place and loved all of your work there – sometimes I would see you out early on a dawn run or surf myself. But were are just so thankful that the universe has conspired to bring us to Tassie. Great surf, outdoors, nature and people. Amazingly good photos
