When I mentioned I was opening up my Podcast to interesting people from all walks of life, I meant it. Adam Powell is one of the most unique people I know. He smashes down stereotypes while he bumbles creative energy. Adam is a plumber by trade whose work building high-end bathrooms led him down a path of photographing the more unusual side of architecture. Basically, a lot of toilets. Through Adam’s outlook on life we see there is beauty and creativity in so many parts of our lives that I think many people walk straight past and it takes a person like Adam to make you realise just how interesting well-designed and beautiful everyday things can be.
We also discuss career changes, fashion, restoration of old cars and social media. We settle on a concept for a photograph which we create in Adam’s garage using a VW Beatle that he is currently restoring. Enjoy the journey.

Posted at 09:41h, 18 SeptemberThanks Joel, Your podcast with Adam was very entertaining. What diversity you both have.
I believe you are doing the fine arts degree. I had a friend recently passed away who did a fine arts degree at Sydney Uni after he retired from the large company as a very senior executive. Apart from his excellent drawings and paintings that were done from age 65 to 84 he produced some wonderful sculptures using day to day metal products.
Thanks again Joel

Posted at 09:45h, 18 SeptemberHi C,
Thanks for the email, it means a lot to hear from people after a day spent at the computer studying politics for the first time in years (the other part of my degree). Sorry to hear about the passing of your friend, but great to hear that he created some meaningful art in his later years. Reading that certainly cemented my decision to do what I am doing at the moment.
Thanks for following my work and I hope to hear from you again soon.
