Early mornings are the best time to be at the beach; the conditions are often best for surfing and the light is generally better for photographing. This photograph was taken at 6:25am as the sun rose to a point just high enough to light the crests of the waves whilst the troughs were still deep in shadow. The lines are so perfectly clean and stacked against the horizon with no wind. You don’t even need to see a breaking wave to know that the surf this particular dawn was incredible.
