Photographing the backs of waves is fun. You have to time things well and, if you do, you can even get a little ride along in the vortex created by the wave while you are taking the photograph.
The crystal clear view you get through this wave is because there was no wind at all to disturb the surface of the water. It is so clear you can actually see people walking on the beach through the wave.
