There is an old saying about Manly Beach that it is ‘7 miles from the city, and a million miles from care.’ I decided to call this photograph ‘a million miles from care’ as it perfectly sums up the feeling of Manly in the summer. Work, school, bills, nothing really seems that important on a day like this, when you can paddle around the reef at The Bower and soak up some sunshine.
A lot of people can’t believe that this image was taken in Sydney and that the reef is in fact The Bower surf break. It just goes to show how incredible a location this is given its proximity to a major capital city. If you look closely at the edge of the reef you can actually see a SCUBA diver below the surface as well.
